My wife, Catherine Side, and I have established a new food company in the UK making foods for special nutritional needs. Initially we are offering very low salt meals specially for those people with Chronic Kidney Disease. These foods are also suitable for anyone who has been advised by their doctor to avoid salt, or those who wish to have tasty, convenient foods like we make at home, but without additives.
I am struck by the number of people who are trying to understand their food and diet better, yet who struggle to understand labelling that would help them find appropriate foods supermarkets. With my background as Professor of Food Technology, I believe I can offer valuable assistance to understanding the foods and their labels. I can also provide guidance on the work many (but sadly not all) manufacturers take to provide nutritious and healthy food choices.
